SUMMARY OF THINK LIKE A MONK

Self-knowledge should be the greatest discovery of humans. All of us should strive for it. From the education, experiences, and events, one must find about himself. Where he/she can express himself, not lying or copying. Only then, one can achieve the true purpose of life. He can serve society and live a peaceful life.

'You can think like a monk living in the modern world'. Jay Shetty explains -"if you want to be an innovator, learn from Elon Musk. If you want to learn stocks or business you should follow Warren Buffet or Jeff Bezos. Similarly, if you want to learn how to control the mind, calm, discipline, deal with rejections you must learn from a monk."

As the famous quote of shake-spear "To be, or not to be, that is the question". The bombardment of the information left us confused. We follow successful people, read their books, get influenced. But our true reflection in the mirror is blurred.  This is called External Noise. We have to clean it through:

  1. Self-audit
  2. Isolation
  3. Prioritization
  4. Knowing real intentions
  5. Knowing one space and time

REVIEW OF THINK LIKE A MONK

Finding the true purpose of life, how to deal with negative people, how to channel emotions. We know these things. Yeah, we have motivational videos on YouTube and influences on Instagram. Of course, the precious teachings of elders. We have been brought up around this.

So why read Think like a monk?

Firstly, Jay Sheety wasn't a monk by chance.  He completed his formal education like any of us. His first encounter with spirituality changed everything. It is not easy to leave everything and walk on a less traveled road. Become a monk. He is the first monk, as per my knowledge, who argues to win this materialistic world without contaminating the mind.

Secondly, of all the teachings that we hear daily from the infinite medium, the source is monks. I prefer knowledge from a source that is without contamination. Jay Shetty is a monk blended perfectly. Unlike other monks, he is doesn't detach himself from the world.

QUOTES FROM THINK LIKE A MONK

  1. A layperson who is consciously aiming to be continuously alive in the Now is a monk.
  2. I’m like a monk with a taste for Hookers.
  3. Be Brave. Think Like a Warrior, Live Like a Monk.
  4. No one can live without a relationship. You may withdraw into the mountains, become a monk, a sannyasi, wander off into the desert by yourself, but you are related. You cannot escape from that absolute fact. You cannot exist in isolation.
  5. I was spoiled by Monk’s music because it was so good, so complete.
  6. I Applaud People Who Have Been Through Hell But are Still Kind & Loving towards Other Humans. I Hope The Universe Rewards You With Happiness.
  7. Find me someone who has gone to the darkest parts of their own character where they were so close to their own self-destruction and found a way to get up and out of it, and I will bow on my knees to you. … You’re my teacher.
  8. When we accept the temporary nature of everything in our lives, we can feel gratitude for the good fortune of getting to borrow them for a time.
  9. It is impossible to build one’s own happiness on the unhappiness of others.
  10. The location has energy; time has memory. If you do something at the same time every day, it becomes easier and more natural. If you do something in the same space every day, it becomes easier and more natural.
