Summary Of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, A Man Of All Seasons

"Atal Bihari Vajpayee: A man for all seasons", is the biography of India's most celebrated politician. With his generosity and unparalleled oratory skills, Atalji words could hardly encounter opposition. His speeches have a blend of poetry that collected countless applause. He was considered as Politician above Politics.

The book focuses on his four decades of the political journey that starts from his family, schooling to joining Rashtriya Sayamsevak Sangh( RSS). His oratory skills were admired by stalwarts like Deen Dayal Upadhaya, Syama Prasad Mukherjee. Vajpayee also collected the admiration from Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru as was consulted by his daughter Indra Gandhi-" whom he never failed to criticize".

He was one earliest member of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. Vajpayee came out as a leading face as opposition MP. At 33, he was one of the youngest members in parliament His tenure as external affairs minister from the short-lived Janta government was enough for Indian politics to know his mettle. The entertainment section in the book is his poetry side. He criticized politics as he did not get time for writing poems.

His ability as a leader got the lux when he headed the National Democratic Alliance(NDA) from 1999-2004. Vajpayee has a distinctive character of carrying all the political options together.

The book also discusses a bit about his personal life, Rajkumari Kaul, and his adopted daughter Namita Bhattacharya. The major incidents such as the Emergency, Demolition of Babri Masjid, Pokhran test has also been covered from his perspective. In his biography, readers can find the history of modern politics.

Book Review Of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, A Man Of All Seasons

"Atal Bihari Vajpayee: A man for all seasons" is a very handy book if one is having a sudden curiosity for reading about him. Full of characters that played a remarkable role in the Vajpayee journey. I will consider Kingshuk Nag has successfully captured the life of Vajpayee from a birds-eye. Since critical analysis is absent, so it can be really good for early-stage readers. The respect for Atalji is now at new heights. I will recommend to people who are interested in Indian politics and biography.
